The Opportunity

This team keeps USAA's Property & Casualty Auto policy administration systems running reliably for members. As an entry-level Software Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support the stability, security and performance of these critical systems.

You will learn to troubleshoot production issues, apply patches and security updates, and improve monitoring and resilience. You will write and test code in a modern Java environment, build skills with REST APIs, cloud and container platforms and DevOps practices, and gain hands-on exposure to how a large enterprise system runs. This role suits early-career engineers who want to build a foundation in production engineering with guidance from the team.

What you will do

• Under direct supervision, design, develop, code and test technical solutions.
• Write code to deliver features and improvements on a regular basis.
• Verify and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting.
• Improve application stability and scalability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Create and improve automated tests and code quality.
• Help ensure risks tied to business activities are identified, measured, monitored and controlled in line with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
