The Opportunity

The Bank Credit Risk Analyst internship focuses on skills used to identify, assess and mitigate risk across USAA Bank. Interns learn corporate-level quantitative techniques to model and manage risk and give insights that inform strategic decisions.

The program lets interns apply their skills while gaining real-world experience. Interns work on real business challenges and build relationships with their manager and an assigned mentor in a collaborative culture.

This internship is based at the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.

What you'll do

Bank Credit Risk Analyst Interns work under direct supervision and follow risk and compliance procedures. They complete routine assignments and help resolve problems to support team members, including:

• Completing analytical work to assess risks and opportunities across the Bank's consumer portfolios.
• Giving analytical insights to peers and management to support the bank's risk strategy.
• Starting quantitative analysis using internal and external data sources.
• Performing qualitative analysis to support departmental decisions.
• Researching credit, product and risk proposals and giving feedback to support strong portfolio performance.
• Learning to maintain risk management frameworks that identify, measure or mitigate risk.
• Developing, maintaining and using established reports to monitor and flag bank risks.
• Possibly implementing financial risk sensitivity analysis and credit or financial modeling infrastructure.
• Carrying out routine tasks within established procedures and guidelines.
