Cybersecurity Trainee

Overview

This role takes part in the Bank's Technology Development Program (TDP), a two-year development program that builds technical expertise in Cybersecurity. Participants gain hands-on experience supporting two Cybersecurity teams, which exposes them to several cybersecurity disciplines while they build technical skills, business acumen, and a solid base for a long-term Cybersecurity career.

Insider Threat Team

The Cybersecurity Insider Threat team helps protect M&T's sensitive data, systems, and information assets by identifying, preventing, and investigating potential insider risks. The team works to reduce the risk of negligent, accidental, or malicious activity that could compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of critical systems and data. Through monitoring, investigations, data protection controls, and collaboration with partners across the Bank, the team helps safeguard sensitive information and strengthen M&T's overall cybersecurity posture.

Primary Responsibilities

• Mentor with experienced technology staff to build in-depth technical skills in Cybersecurity.
• Complete a series of rotations within Cybersecurity over a set timeframe, covering multiple technical disciplines beyond your original discipline, to understand how they are used at the Bank and how they work together to deliver solutions and services to internal and external customers.
• Determine a post-program assignment in one of the core areas through career path design, performance assessment, and interest.
• Understand and follow the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in line with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues that need escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and any issues raised by external regulators, as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Bank's Technology Development Program is a rotational training program for individuals with a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. The program is flexible so the jobholder can shape their career and expand their career objectives. It combines career planning, technical and competency-based training, mentorship, and challenging assessments designed to accelerate one's career with the Bank.
