New Grad Software Engineer

At Databricks, the goal is to enable data teams to solve the world's toughest problems, from security threat detection to cancer drug development. The mission is to radically simplify the whole data lifecycle, from ingestion to ETL, BI, and ML/AI, through a unified platform. The team believes the data warehouse architecture as it is known today will be replaced by the Lakehouse pattern (CIDR 2021 paper), open platforms that unify data warehousing and advanced analytics. This architecture is meant to address challenges such as data staleness, reliability, total cost of ownership, data lock-in, and limited use-case support.

On this team, you could work in one or more of the following areas:

• Query compilation and optimization
• Distributed query execution and scheduling
• Vectorized execution engine
• Data security
• Resource management
• Transaction coordination
• Efficient storage structures (encodings, indexes)
• Automatic physical data optimization
• Data plane storage
• Storage management system

What we look for

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject, with graduation in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027
• Implementation skills with a general purpose programming language such as Java or C++
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and OOP principles
• A passion for database systems, storage systems, distributed systems, language design, or performance optimization
• Experience managing end-to-end projects

Pay Range Transparency: Databricks pays fairly and equitably. The expected range is $145,000 to $155,000 USD for Zone 1 and $137,750 to $147,450 USD for Zone 2. Actual pay depends on factors such as job-related skills, experience, certifications, training, and work location, and Databricks expects to use the full width of the range. The package may also include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
