Data Science Intern in Mountain View or San Francisco

At Databricks, the goal is to help data teams solve some of the world's toughest problems, from new transportation technology to faster medical breakthroughs. The company builds and runs a data and AI infrastructure platform so customers can use data insights to improve their business.

As a Data Science Intern, you will join the Data team of data scientists and engineers. The team turns Databricks business and operations data into insights for product design, customer acquisition and retention strategies, and improvements to engineering system efficiency, stability and performance. The Data team also acts as an internal customer that uses the Databricks platform and drives product improvements.

Interviews are hosted for the Mountain View and San Francisco offices. Details will be shared as you move through the process.

The Impact You Will Have

• Work with the Data team and internal stakeholders (Product, Customer Success, Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Finance) to solve problems using data.
• Apply data science methods such as causal inference modeling and recommender systems to real data to deliver insights and/or deploy algorithms to the Databricks platform.
• Manage your own project end-to-end, from data exploration to presenting insights to stakeholders and/or deploying an algorithm in a product environment.

What We Look For

• You will graduate in fall 2027 or spring 2028 with a Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Operations Research or Engineering).
• Proven ability to work with data in SQL and Python.
• Experience with multiple statistical data analysis and machine learning methods such as generalized linear regression, regression and classification trees, unsupervised learning, causal inference, stochastic processes and time series forecasting.
• You enjoy solving ambiguous problems with a collaborative team.

Pay Range

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation. The SF Bay Area hourly rate for this role is $54 to $60 USD. Final pay depends on factors such as job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications and work location. The total compensation package may also include an annual performance bonus, equity and benefits.
