Collins Aerospace is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join its Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) team. The role supports development, integration and verification of advanced avionics and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) software.

What You Will Do

• Design, implement, integrate and test embedded software for advanced avionics navigation systems
• Develop and run verification plans, procedures and test cases for GNSS algorithms, navigation functions and integrity-monitoring software
• Use automation, scripting and GenAI-enhanced tools to improve verification quality and efficiency
• Work with navigation algorithm, systems and hardware engineering teams to ensure robust end-to-end system performance

What You Will Learn

• Core GNSS concepts, including GPS signal structures, tracking algorithms, navigation filters and PNT system performance
• Techniques in jamming/spoofing detection, RF threat analysis and resilient navigation
• DO-178C DAL A development and verification practices for safety-critical avionics

Qualifications You Must Have

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related STEM major, and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session
• Experience with embedded C/C++ software development
• Proficient in Python/MATLAB for signal analysis, test vectors and prototyping

Experience may be gained through on-the-job work, research, coursework or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of GNSS fundamentals and navigation systems
• Understanding of basic algorithms and data structures
• Working knowledge of SVN and Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Jama)

This is an onsite role, with work performed primarily at the office location. Candidates may also be asked to attend select interview steps in person.

The salary range is a good faith estimate for this role across experience levels. Pay depends on factors including role, responsibilities, work experience, location, education and key skills.
