The team uses a proprietary language and a unique, metadata-driven architecture to solve complex business problems. About the Role

As a Software Application Development Engineer Intern, you will be an integral part of a business unit, working on features that directly impact the Workday product. You will spend your summer immersed in the development practices and gain hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design to implementation.

This role is a strong opportunity to apply your Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills to build robust, scalable applications. You will work with developers and product managers to build solutions that help move Workday's products forward.

Key Responsibilities:

• Join your team's daily standups, planning sessions, grooming, and retrospectives as a full participant in how the team plans and delivers work
• Take on tasks from the team's backlog with guidance from your mentor, building confidence and ownership through the internship
• Collaborate through design docs, tickets, pull requests, and code reviews to uphold a shared standard of quality
• Build and deliver small to medium features or enhancements across services, UI, or platform components
• Help maintain quality by writing tests, fixing bugs, and improving internal tooling and automation
• Learn and work within the team's tech stack, including languages, frameworks, build tools, and deployment pipelines

Flexible Work

Workday uses a flex work approach that combines in-person time and remote work. Employees spend at least half (50%) of their time each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role).
