What You Will Do

The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op will work within the ME Organization in the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department, which leads mechanical design, development, and integration for a wide range of products, including undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard and ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment according to system requirements.
• Work across multiple disciplines (such as structural/thermal analysis and electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced team environment.
• Validate design fit and functionality through rapid prototyping and/or simulation.
• Support the factory and suppliers with product integration.
• Take part in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to support sound technical decisions.
• Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of undersea systems and electronics packaging. Knowledge of design for long-term submergence, sealing, and corrosion resistance.
• Experience on DoD programs.
• Experience with PTC Creo and PDM.
• Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
