IBM has openings for Analog Design Interns on the team that delivers high speed SERDES interfaces for IBM Power and Z microprocessors in advanced 3nm technologies and beyond.

Possible Roles and Responsibilities

• Help your new team move the high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4 in support of future IBM microprocessors.
• Use a combination of industry standard and IBM proprietary tools to design, simulate, and lay out your circuits.
• Work on transmitter, receiver, PLL, or other analog designs.
• Learn what it takes to develop and deliver complex analog circuits for IBM products.
• Perform schematic level design using Cadence design tools.
• Perform in-depth circuit analysis using Spectre and SPICE simulators.
• Analyze the design for manufacturability and end of life requirements.
• Develop scripts to parse data using languages such as Python.

Required Skills

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, with a relevant circuit design course and applied circuit design experience.
• Use of Cadence and SPICE tools.
• Understanding of VHDL, Python, Perl, and TCL.
• Pursuing an MS in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Analog Circuit Design, with a relevant analog circuit design course.
• Understanding of interface terminology such as NMZ, PAM4, CTLE, DFE, PLLs, RX, and TX, and how these work within a high-speed interface.
