About the Team

Collins Aerospace develops technically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. Its Cooperative Engagement Capability provides integrated air and missile defense by delivering accurate, continuous target tracks to all units in the network. Collins Aerospace has worked closely with the U.S. Navy to develop and evolve this capability for the fleet.

What You Will Do

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will join the software development team in St. Petersburg, FL. Teams build software in several languages, including C++ and Python. You will take part in many phases of the software development life cycle.

You will provide practical solutions to difficult technical software problems and support multiple programs and platforms within a software product line. Work may include real-time software development, application software development, test and verification, data analysis, and software tools development.

Teams are organized as SAFE (Scaled Agile Framework) Scrum teams. Your responsibilities will include:

• Helping with requirements, design, development, and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and tools, including new work products and enhancements to existing systems.
• Designing, coding, testing, integrating, and documenting software solutions.
• Taking part in internal reviews of software components and systems.
• Working with project managers and other engineering professionals.
• Following established development practices to maintain configuration management of software products.

• Exposure to DevSecOps and test automation.
• Secure coding practices.
• Using the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket/Git).

This role is onsite. Candidates may also be asked to attend select interview steps in person at one of our office locations. An active and transferable U.S. government security clearance (DoD Secret, interim clearance acceptable) is required before the start date, and U.S. citizenship is required.
