What You Will Do

Raytheon Intelligence & Space is looking for a Mechanical Engineer intern to join the space and airborne optics department. The role supports development, integration and test across multiple space and airborne programs in El Segundo, CA.

The intern will design opto-mechanical components using Creo and support assembly, integration and test work in a lab environment. You will work with junior and senior manufacturing and mechanical engineers on the design, build and test of EO/IR space hardware.

• Create and revise opto-mechanical designs and drawings
• Generate assembly instructions and provide build support with technicians and other engineering disciplines
• Apply design for producibility and manufacturability
• Present your work in peer reviews

You should understand general components and how engineering principles apply to design and development. You will research component design and materials, generate detailed drawings using GD&T, and work with a cross-functional team on material selection, thermal management, precision mechanical mounting and motion, and structural optimization within schedule constraints. You will also manage engineering changes in a product data management tool.
