Remote Hiring Network Site Design Intern

The Network Site Design (NSD) Team at Leidos is looking for an intern to help modernize how network site designs are developed and delivered. You will gain hands-on experience supporting the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) contract, the Department of the Navy's largest IT services contract. Under SMIT, Leidos delivers and sustains the backbone of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including network site infrastructure design, network architecture, configuration management, and digital engineering.

You will support the NSD team in designing, documenting, and implementing critical network infrastructure that enables naval operations worldwide. You will also gain exposure to digital engineering methods, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the development and review of change requests for network site designs and related technical documentation across multiple naval installations
• Assist with network site topology design and documentation, including site layouts, network device placement, and logical and physical topology diagrams
• Work with the Active Bill of Materials (ABOM) to track network equipment, validate component specifications, and keep inventory records accurate
• Take part in network architecture planning, including site connectivity design, routing protocols, and network segmentation
• Collaborate with network architects and engineers to build site-specific designs that match enterprise architecture standards and best practices
• Support the preparation of network design templates in Cameo Systems Modeler and help ensure compliance with NSD procedures and standards
• Assist with site survey validations, network solution assessments, and evaluations for infrastructure upgrade projects
• Take part in digital engineering initiatives, including curating designs in Cameo Systems Modeler and learning MBSE methods for network architecture modeling
• Contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), network design documentation, and technical guides for site topology standards
• Help process implementation feedback from field teams and support post-deployment validation
• Verify data integrity of network device inventories, site topology databases, and ABOM records
• Attend team meetings and work with network engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams
