Electrical Hardware Design Intern

Leidos Defense Systems is looking for a motivated Electrical Hardware Design Engineering Intern to join a diverse team in summer 2027 and help solve complex problems. Leidos has offices across the United States that deliver engineering, scientific, and IT solutions in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields. About the Role

This is a summer internship in the Electrical Systems Department. Interns take part in design engineering work such as concept development, architecting, implementing, and testing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs. Interns can also build skills in PCB layout, signal integrity analysis, power distribution network design, technical trade studies, and technology evaluation.

Each intern works closely with an assigned mentor on tasks that build their skills and support the programs they are part of.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, simulation, modeling, and testing of hardware solutions.
• Work with design tools such as Mentor Graphics, Altium for PCB design, SPICE, and Visio.
• Develop and execute hardware verification plans.
• Debug hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.
• Collaborate with team members on hardware projects.
