About the job

Leidos is seeking a college intern to support AI enablement and performance management initiatives on the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) program. SMIT supports the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and related IT services. Working alongside experienced team members, the intern will explore how data, automation, and AI can help teams understand service performance and improve day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on learning opportunity with guidance, mentorship, and appropriately scoped projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with small AI and automation projects, including prototypes that summarize IT service tickets, performance measures, or operational trends.
  • Help prepare, organize, and review datasets used for dashboards, reporting, and AI experiments.
  • Experiment with prompts and simple AI-agent workflows, document results, and suggest improvements with team guidance.
  • Write or update basic scripts, queries, or lightweight interfaces using familiar tools such as Python or JavaScript.
  • Support testing and troubleshooting by identifying issues, recording observations, and helping validate outputs.
  • Participate in team meetings and Agile activities, share progress, ask questions, and document work for other team members.

If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling. At Leidos, we outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo, because the mission demands it. We're not hiring followers. We're recruiting the ones who disrupt, provoke, and refuse to fail. Step 10 is ancient history. We're already at step 30, moving faster than anyone else dares.
