Summer Games Software Intern

The Opportunity

The Summer Games is an internship program that draws some of the nation's best and brightest students. Its goal is to develop a breakthrough idea or solution for one of the customer's most pressing, complex, and multidimensional problems while building valuable technical skills. The competitive and collaborative program draws thousands of applicants each year. Modeled on a real-world startup accelerator, interns are split into teams, each working on a different challenge project. Throughout the Games, interns receive mentorship from senior leaders, solve problems using Booz Allen's products and engagement models, and work together in a team environment.

The summer ends with a final Challenge Cup competition and a presentation to senior leadership. A past winner worked on helping blind individuals navigate using new technology and built a business and market penetration plan. Other teams have helped develop an app that gives military commanders an easy way to track real-time and open-source information about developing situations, including sudden attacks, human trafficking, and the worldwide spread of disease.

You Have:

• Experience with programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, C, C++, Assembly, Python, Perl, R, or Bash
• Experience with machine learning, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms in academic or internship environments
• Experience conducting research and writing software
• Ability to produce technical documentation and create design artifacts
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor's degree in a Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field by Summer 2028 or Summer 2029

Clearance

Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible for the benefit programs. Those below that threshold are eligible only for select offerings, which do not include health benefits.

Identity Statement

Work Model

Booz Allen's people-first culture values collaboration. Employees working virtually are generally expected to keep their cameras on during meetings. Remote roles may still require occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility. Hybrid roles require work from a Booz Allen or customer facility as leadership expects and the role needs. Onsite roles are performed primarily at a customer facility.
