Systems Engineer Intern

The Opportunity

The Summer Games is an internship program that draws some of the nation's strongest students. Interns work on a breakthrough idea or solution for one of the customer's most pressing, complex, and multidimensional problems while building valuable technical skills. The program is competitive and collaborative, and attracts thousands of applicants each year. Interns are split into teams that mirror a real-world startup accelerator, with each team working on a different challenge project. Throughout the Games, interns receive mentorship from senior leaders, solve problems using Booz Allen's products and engagement models, and work together in a team environment.

The summer ends with a final Challenge Cup competition and a presentation to senior leadership. A past winner worked on helping blind individuals navigate using new technology and built a business and market penetration plan. Other teams have developed an app that gives military commanders a simple way to track real-time, open-source information about developing situations, including sudden attacks, human trafficking, and the worldwide spread of disease.

You Have:

• Experience with programming languages, including .NET, C++, JavaScript, Java, or Python, in a professional, academic, or internship setting
• Knowledge of software development best practices
• Ability to learn new programming languages and frameworks
• Ability to work in groups
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor's degree in a Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field by Summer 2028 or Summer 2029

Nice If You Have:

• Ability to produce technical documentation and create design artifacts
• Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Clearance:

Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation

Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis can join the benefit programs. Those below that threshold are eligible only for select offerings, which do not include health benefits.

Identity Statement

As part of hiring, applicants will complete an identity verification process that uses advanced biometrics and artificial intelligence to confirm authenticity and guard against identity fraud. Applicants are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments.

Work Model

Employees working virtually are generally expected to keep cameras on during meetings to support collaboration and communication. Remote roles may still require in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility. Hybrid roles require work from a Booz Allen or customer facility as leadership expects and the role needs. Onsite roles are performed primarily full-time at a customer facility.
