Systems Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

The Opportunity

The Summer Games is an innovative internship program that draws some of the nation's strongest students. Its goal is to develop a breakthrough idea or solution for one of the customer's most pressing, complex, and multidimensional problems while building valuable technical skills. The program draws thousands of applicants each year.

Interns are divided into teams that mirror a real-world startup accelerator, with each team working on a different challenge project. Throughout the Games, interns receive mentorship from senior leaders, solve problems using Booz Allen's products and engagement models, and collaborate closely within their teams.

The summer ends with a final Challenge Cup competition and a presentation to senior leadership. One past winner worked on helping blind individuals navigate using new technology, along with a business and market penetration plan. Other teams have built an app that helps military commanders track real-time and open-source information on developing situations, including sudden attacks, human trafficking, and the worldwide spread of disease.

Clearance

Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Identity Verification and AI Usage

As part of the hiring process, candidates will complete an identity verification process that uses biometrics and artificial intelligence to confirm authenticity and guard against identity fraud. Candidates are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments.

AI tools are part of daily work at Booz Allen, but the hiring process is meant to reflect each candidate's own skills and knowledge. Using AI or other tools to help with interview responses, whether in person or virtual, is prohibited unless permission is explicitly provided.

Work Model

Booz Allen prioritizes collaboration. Employees working virtually are generally expected to keep their cameras on during meetings. Remote positions may still require some in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility, hybrid roles expect work from a Booz Allen or customer facility as leadership and the role require, and onsite roles are performed primarily at a customer facility.
