Summary, Focus and Purpose

The 3D Technologies (3DT) enterprise team acts as a business partner, proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. Our mission is to democratize invention and make it easy and accessible to anyone at the company. Our core DevOps team works across the globe to deliver CAD, 3D printing and other services that help colleagues be more productive and innovative.

3DT Operations is the centralized location where internal ideas and data are fabricated. The West Point 3DT lab houses about 50 3D printers, along with other fabrication and post-processing equipment such as a laser cutter and injection molder. Hundreds of projects move through the lab each year, so knowledge transfer and efficiency are essential.

Role Focus: Operational Support

The co-op will mainly support lab operations in the following areas:

• Manage print queue: Prioritize jobs across lab printers, meet project deadlines, and communicate delays to stakeholders.
• Repair, upgrade or up-knowledge printers: Find root causes of print failures across the fleet, carry out upgrades and process improvements for speed, reliability and versatility, and integrate new equipment.
• Continuous improvement: Identify workflow improvements (for example, automatic part removal on high-volume small part builds), and document best practices and SOPs for new equipment and workflows.
• Additional opportunities: Practice hands-on post-processing to ensure high-quality parts for a pharmaceutical cleanroom, staff a table at outreach events such as Take Your Child to Work Day, and collaborate with different departments across pharmaceutical processes.

This role is primarily onsite, with an expectation of 4-5 days per week in the office.

Preferred Experience

• Some knowledge of CAD.
• Hands-on experience with 3D printers (CAD, slicing, printing or fixing printers), though this is also a chance to build these skills.
• Good documentation skills.
• This role is most likely best suited for a first or second co-op cycle.
