Are you looking for an exciting chance to join a rapidly growing pharmaceutical manufacturer? We are seeking a growth and improvement minded 3D Technologies Co-op who can help drive our Strategic Operating Priorities.

Our success depends on the integrity, knowledge, imagination, skill, diversity and teamwork of people like you. We strive to create an environment of mutual respect, encouragement and teamwork, where you can work with talented colleagues while building your career.

  • Invent: Pursue the most promising internal and external science to address significant unmet medical needs.
  • Execute: Prioritize resources behind our key growth drivers (Oncology, Vaccines, Select Specialty Areas, Animal Health) while optimizing our base business.
  • Adapt: Develop our people, culture and business model to evolve with a dynamic landscape.
  • Diverse Talent: We are committed to an inclusive and welcoming environment, because a high-performing, engaged workforce is critical to delivering innovative solutions to patients and customers worldwide.
  • Values and Standards: Our steadfast commitment to our values and standards guides us through new challenges and is a competitive advantage for us.

Summary, Focus and Purpose

Our 3D Technologies enterprise team works as a business partner on challenging problems, proposing ideas and innovative solutions that build new organizational capabilities. Our mission is to democratize inventing and make it easy and accessible to anyone at our company. Our core DevOps team collaborates internationally to deliver solutions that make everyone more productive, through CAD, 3D printing and other services.

The 3DT Materials & Process team supports pipeline projects for Quality & Compliance (QC), often where cGMP factors apply. Defects behave differently in 3D printing than in other manufacturing methods, and the burden of understanding, reducing or designing around them falls largely on the end user. The QC team works to build knowledge within the main DevOps team about these constraints and to expand our fabrication techniques for the pharmaceutical business while maintaining GMP compliance.

In this role, the co-op will focus mainly on QC support, through work such as:

A) Qualifying new equipment

  • Qualifying new printers or other equipment for service and outlining processing conditions that meet minimum quality controls (e.g. FDM, SLA, injection molding).
  • Finding the root cause of print failures across a fleet through systematic analysis.
  • Identifying and documenting equipment failures and part defects to improve or expand Quality Control checks and Go-NoGo inspections, and to help train new automated systems.

B) Continuous improvement and R&D

  • Identifying workflow improvement opportunities in lab Dev & Ops and 3D printing production.
  • Carrying out research to expand our capabilities, such as 3DP for injection molding, 3DP of tablets or pills, or wetted path components for bioprocessing.

C) Material characterization

  • Using material characterization and imaging equipment (e.g. micro-CT, izod impact, HDT) to better understand defects and improve processes.

D) Additional opportunities

  • Working hands-on with post-processing techniques to learn practical tips for assembly and for ensuring high-quality parts that go into a pharmaceutical cleanroom.
  • Staffing a table at outreach events, such as Take Your Child to Work Day.
  • Gaining exposure to and collaborating with different departments across pharmaceutical processes.

This role is primarily onsite, with an expectation of 4-5 days per week in the office.

This position may be closed before the posted end date or may remain open longer, at the company's discretion.
