Software Engineering Intern

Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA's product portfolio for chip manufacturers. Its systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging and PCB manufacturing.

The Measurement, Analytics and Control (MACH) division is KLA's software group. It develops high-performance platforms for semiconductor manufacturing in patterning analytics, modeling and data science. Its cross-functional team includes research scientists, software engineers, applications engineers and process engineers.

What You'll Do

You will join the Austin development team for the summer of 2027 as a Software Engineer intern. You will own a dedicated, high-impact project from start to finish, working alongside an experienced developer as your mentor.

The team builds OVALiS, a .NET/C# application used in semiconductor manufacturing. Your project will explore how AI can change the way the team develops software, with a well-defined problem and a tangible outcome.

Over the summer, you will:

• Own a real problem end to end, from design to a working result
• Learn how a production .NET/C# codebase is built, tested and shipped
• Work with modern AI development tools and learn to apply them well
• Share your results with the development team

Key responsibilities:

• Work with your mentor to break down the project, define the approach and agree on what "done" looks like
• Design and implement the solution using the languages and tools best suited to the problem
• Measure results, document findings and iterate
• Take part in the Scrum team's sprint planning, code reviews and demos

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Programming experience in C# or a similar object-oriented language, with a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms
• Ability to work independently on an open-ended problem and communicate progress clearly
