Business Analytics Intern

The Client & Customer Experience (C&CE) team supports Cigna customers across several lines of business, including US Medical and Pharmacy Benefits. The team is responsible for delivering a strong client and customer experience while running Cigna's call centers efficiently for the business. The Business Analytics Intern will support analytical work that advances C&CE's strategic priorities.

The role sits within a Business Analyst team that supports C&CE directly. That work includes improving customer experience, redesigning the destination servicing experience, and improving the associate experience through better tools and capabilities. During the internship, you will work closely with operational partners to understand 1-2 assigned business case projects, develop analytical insights, and build presentations that shape future strategy.

What You Will Do

• Develop 1-2 business cases that evaluate options and assess costs and benefits to guide prioritization.
• Use data to solve business problems by identifying data needs, pulling data from relevant sources, and performing analysis.
• Find business opportunities through trend analysis and mining of operational data.
• Turn work into clear presentations that educate, inform, and drive action.

Role Components

• Strategy: Drive action through data-driven analysis and business judgment. Identify and assess potential opportunities for change over the next 3-5 years.
• Business Judgment: Build and apply frameworks to scope ambiguous problems. Focus effort where the leverage is to uncover insights that lead to action.
• Analytics: Evaluate business opportunities and make strategic recommendations that account for benefits, costs, risks, and alternatives.
• Data: Base analysis on data wherever possible. Define needs, identify sources, ensure data quality, and work with data teams to complete analysis. Coding experience in a relevant language such as SQL or Python is preferred.
• Communications: Influence leaders across C&CE and partner teams by distilling complex analysis into key insights, recommendations, and next steps.
• Teamwork: Partner across Operations, Technology, Finance, and business teams in an inclusive environment where you can grow professionally.

Additional Information

• Housing: Summer housing is available for interns who live more than 50 miles from the Bloomfield, CT office.
• Work Authorization: This temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible to work in the United States and who will not require visa support now or in the future. The program aims to prepare candidates for full-time roles with Cigna after graduation.
• Schedule: You must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship, beginning May 24, 2027.
• Pre-Employment Requirements: Selected candidates must complete mandatory pre-employment tasks about 45 days before the program start date. The drug test requires availability within the United States during this period.

If you will work from home occasionally or permanently, your internet connection must come from a cable broadband or fiber optic provider with speeds of at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
