Software Engineering Program

Overview

This role takes part in the Bank's Technology Development Program (TDP), a 2-year program that builds in-depth technical skills in a specific discipline. Participants then complete rotations across several Technology departments to gain a wider understanding of all technical disciplines and keep growing in their chosen discipline.

Digital Banking Applications & Platforms

You will join teams that build and support customer-facing mobile and online banking applications. The work covers software engineering technologies and languages such as Java, React, C#, Python, and Ruby, along with Azure, Kubernetes, automated testing, and cloud technologies. You will also gain exposure to platform engineering, production reliability, and generative AI as the organization modernizes its digital banking technology.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work with experienced technology staff to build in-depth skills in a specific discipline such as Software Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, Data Engineering or Cybersecurity.
• Complete a series of rotations over a set timeframe across multiple technical disciplines to understand how they are used at the Bank and how they work together to deliver solutions and services to internal and external customers.
• Determine your post-program assignment in one of the core areas through career path design, performance assessment, and personal interest.
• Understand and follow the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in line with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues that need to be escalated to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and any issues raised by external regulators.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Technology Development Program is a rotational training program for Bachelor's degree holders in a technical discipline. The program is flexible so the jobholder can shape their career and expand their career objectives. It combines career planning, technical and competency-based training, mentorship, and challenging assessments designed to accelerate career growth with the Bank.
