Data Engineering Program in Buffalo, NY

Overview

This role takes part in the Bank's Technology Development Program (TDP), a 2-year program that builds in-depth technical skills in one specific discipline. Participants then complete rotations across several Technology departments to understand all technical disciplines and keep growing in their chosen area.

Data Engineering

The Data Engineering team develops and modernizes enterprise data solutions as the organization moves from legacy Microsoft SQL platforms to Databricks in the cloud. You will work with SQL, Python, PowerShell, SQL Server and Databricks, supporting database development, ETL pipelines, data management, cloud migration and enterprise data initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work with experienced technology staff to build in-depth skills in a specific discipline such as Software Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, Data Engineering or Cybersecurity.
• Complete a series of rotations over a set timeframe across multiple technical disciplines to understand how each is used at the Bank and how they work together to deliver solutions and services to internal and external customers.
• Determine your post-program assignment in one of the core areas through career path design, performance assessment and interest.
• Understand and follow the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in line with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues that need escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and any issues raised by external regulators.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Technology Development Program is a rotational training program for Bachelor's degree holders in a technical discipline. The program is flexible so participants can shape their career and expand their goals. It combines career planning, technical and competency-based training, mentorship and challenging assessments designed to accelerate career growth at the Bank.
