Part-Time Software Platform Co-Op

What You Will Do

Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit focuses on integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. Within ASDS, Space Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance delivers information superiority from space, multi-mission automation and orchestration, multiple intelligence (Multi-INT) and resilient operations, secure processing, and data management.

RTX is hiring SW Platform Engineer Co-Ops through the Raytheon Cooperative Education Program. This is a part-time, remote role for senior or postgraduate students with an expected graduation date of December 2027.

Co-ops who are selected will be submitted for a U.S. Government security clearance. During the co-op period, participants attend monthly engagement seminars, complete required Raytheon training, take part in security clearance activities, and meet with a mentor. The role requires 2-4 hours per month for these activities. It does not include an internship or direct program or project work.

After graduation and clearance approval, co-ops will move into a full-time, onsite position in Aurora, CO, supporting the design, development, and maintenance of systems for customer missions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to apply basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts
• Ability to develop solutions to routine technical problems
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with good written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of or experience with Linux, Windows, or related operating systems at the command line
• Experience with development tools such as Ansible, Chef, Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, or similar
• Experience with network design and architecture
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Google, or GovCloud
• DevSecOps toolset experience as a user or implementor
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including Agile
• Cybersecurity concepts experience is a plus

Security Clearance

The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance, and U.S. citizenship. An active clearance is required after day one.

Candidates may be asked to attend select interview steps in person at an RTX office, whether the role is designated on-site, hybrid, or remote.
