About the job

Are you ready to explore aerospace and defense? Do you want to learn from and collaborate with some of the greatest minds in the industry? At RTX, internships, co-ops and full-time careers offer a strong foundation for working on complex problems, building your skills and helping create a safer, more connected world.

What You Will Do

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday co-op running January through July/August, including the Spring semester. Students are expected to take a semester off from coursework to fully take part in this working mentorship.

As an Electrical Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace, you will help develop digital hardware circuit boards for new products. You will also support existing products, including recertification after minor or major changes, identifying cost savings, troubleshooting equipment from the field or OEM assembly line, and managing obsolescence. The role focuses on avionics networking technologies that directly affect aircraft performance, safety and reliability. You will join the Avionics Network Hardware team within the Computing Products Department of the Displays, Controls, Computing & Networking Directorate.

  • Design, analyze, simulate and test Circuit Card Assemblies for Avionics Computers (Processors, FPGAs, Memory, high-speed interfaces).
  • Operate lab equipment to perform integration testing on hardware designs.
  • Create schematic captures of digital and analog mixed signal circuit designs.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the end of the internship/co-op session.
  • At least 30 hours of credit by the start of the co-op session.

Experience may come from on-the-job work, research, coursework or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience developing electronic circuit designs and/or multi-assembly system or unit designs.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • Experience taking design concepts from block diagrams or requirements to complete hardware designs, including verification through testing and integration.
  • Experience with design tools (schematic capture) and the PCB design process to analyze and simulate designs before hardware implementation.
  • Experience using PCB circuit design software for signal integrity, power integrity and analog simulation.

What We Offer
