Burnsville MN Hiring Mechanical Design Engineering Intern

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will join the Sensors team in Burnsville, Minnesota. You will work with the Air Data Sensors (ADS) design team on integrated product teams that develop new, advanced air data sensor products while also supporting existing products in production. You will be part of an integrated research and development team focused on new sensor technology. The role suits someone with a broad interest in engineering.

You will be involved in new and existing product design, including sensor packaging, prototype build and test activities, design for manufacturing, and documentation.

• Support Design Engineers with mechanical CAD design, thermal analysis, material science, system testing, data collection and test data analysis
• Take part in design decisions and lab prototype testing
• Work effectively within multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams to deliver projects on plan
• Use a world-class wind tunnel, environmental test lab and forensics investigation lab to help the team deliver industry-leading air data solutions

Qualifications

You must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM major, and remain actively enrolled through the end of the internship. You should also have experience with MATLAB. Experience can come from on-the-job work, research, coursework or projects.

Preferred qualifications include experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and/or PowerPoint), CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, Fusion 360 or equivalent, and cross-functional teamwork. Prior RTX internship, co-op or work experience is also a plus.
