Mechanical Engineer Intern Latham NY

Are you interested in an internship or co-op with Philips? We are looking for students currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) or graduate (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline for a 3-6 month paid opportunity at our Latham, New York site. The preferred start is January 2027 for a spring co-op, though qualified candidates seeking a Summer 2027 internship may also be considered. You will gain hands-on experience supporting the design, manufacture, validation, and continuous improvement of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) magnet systems.

Your Role

• Support mechanical engineering and program activities for MRI magnet manufacturing, with a focus on product and process improvements that strengthen safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Industrialization Engineering, Quality, Operations, Research and Development, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to investigate issues and implement practical solutions.
• Assist with engineering documentation and execution, including equipment or tooling requirements, process flow updates, drawing reviews, failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA), validation deliverables, data collection, and technical reports.
• Take part in hands-on shop-floor activities such as observing manufacturing processes, supporting trials, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results under the guidance of experienced engineers.

How We Work Together

Our office-based teams work in person at least 3 days per week. This is an onsite role that requires full-time presence at the Philips Latham, New York facility.
