The RF Site Hardware team sits within the Products and Solutions group. The team develops and maintains reliable communications, infrastructure and networking products for Mission Critical and commercial markets worldwide. The RF Site Hardware Engineering team builds advanced Digital, RF, Mechanical and Power Supply solutions for customer needs.

Job Description

We are looking for a smart, self-motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern who enjoys solving problems and finding innovative ways to improve processes. Success in this role requires a value for teamwork and communication and the ability to work closely with engineers on small, dynamic teams. The ideal candidate brings a broad skill set, strong communication and presentation skills, analytical thinking, and a drive to keep learning.

This internship is in a product design and development environment. Interns will support large or complex team projects as well as individual project work over the summer. The role may also support method and process improvements or the upkeep of existing product lines.

Responsibilities

• Preparing concept and prototype designs of mechanical systems, along with hands-on design and analysis of individual parts and components that meet customer requirements, reliability and robustness goals, manufacturing processes and safety guidelines.
• Modeling component and assembly designs with advanced 3D CAD tools, and creating and interpreting 2D drawings to mechanical drafting standards.
• Running experiments to confirm analyses and evaluating new or existing designs against product specifications.
• Performing mechanical verification tests per product specifications and writing test reports.
• Supporting factory quality and process issues and providing feedback to resolve them.
• Supporting the Mechanical lab and suggesting or developing improvements to its capabilities.
