Mechanical Design Intern

Lockheed Martin is looking for a Mechanical Engineering intern to support the Grand Prairie, TX site. The successful candidate must show highly innovative approaches to solving production and design problems.

This role is responsible for assisting production and development teams, resolving technical challenges, incorporating engineering changes, updating drawings and assembly parts lists, and developing new designs and tools.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for Interface Control Drawings (ICDs), components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
• Building BOMs (Bill of Materials) and creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM
• Working with the Integrated Product Team (IPT), suppliers, Global Supply Chain, and electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence
• Contributing to drawing releases, responding to Change Requests (CRs), generating Change Notices (CNs), and supporting change boards and design reviews
• Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits
