About the job

Stryker believes that developing the next generation of talent matters as much as developing life-changing medical technologies. As an intern, you will contribute to meaningful projects, work with leaders who will mentor you, and be part of a culture of innovation and teamwork that is shaping the future of healthcare.

As an intern, you will:

  • Apply classroom knowledge in a fast-paced, growing industry setting
  • Put new ideas into practice, take on challenges, and build your skills
  • Network with high-level stakeholders and business leaders
  • Join an innovative team and culture
  • Document complex processes and present them clearly

Who we want

  • Challengers: people who seek out hard projects and work to find the right solutions.
  • Teammates: partners who listen, share ideas, and work together to move the business forward.
  • Charismatic networkers: relationship-savvy people who build connections with internal partners and external contacts.
  • Strategic thinkers: interns who propose innovative ideas and consistently exceed their performance objectives.
  • Customer-oriented achievers: people with a strong work ethic and customer-focused attitude who add value to their partnerships.
  • Game changers: persistent interns who will do whatever it takes to advance Stryker's mission to make healthcare better.

Opportunities Available

As a Mechanical Engineering intern at Stryker, you will be placed on one of the following teams:

Research & Development

New Product Development: Interns work with cross-functional teams to identify the needs and goals of future products. They research new technologies, customer expectations, business requirements, and regulations. They may use tools such as CAD, FEA, and the Test Labs to develop new product concepts, then take them from concept to production.

Product Engineering: Interns work with cross-functional teams to find the biggest opportunities to improve current products. They study new technologies, customer feedback, and product performance data. They use tools such as CAD, FEA, Test Labs, and root cause analysis methods to improve the safety and effectiveness of existing products.

Test Lab: Interns partner with Test Engineers and R&D to experiment with early prototypes and validate product designs throughout the design process. Much like the Mythbusters, the team builds fixtures to simulate real-life conditions and runs design verification, meaning quantitative testing of product technical specifications. Team members have experience ranging from 2 to over 15 years, with specialties in sterilization, mechanical, electrical, software, and optics.

If you enjoy finding out how things break, we want to hear from you.
