Department Overview

The Data Science team uses advanced analytics, machine learning and AI to improve semiconductor manufacturing performance and decision-making. By combining statistical methods, engineering expertise and AI-enabled solutions, the team turns complex manufacturing data into insights that support operational excellence and innovation across Micron.

Position Overview

As a Data Science Intern, you will work across statistical analysis, machine learning and AI agents to solve real semiconductor manufacturing problems. You will apply time-series analytics, change-point detection, machine learning and large language model (LLM) technologies to find meaningful patterns in manufacturing data and build AI-enabled tools that help engineers make better decisions.

Responsibilities

• Apply statistical and machine learning methods, such as time-series analysis, change-point detection, clustering and dimensionality reduction, to spot trends and anomalies in semiconductor manufacturing data.
• Develop and evaluate AI agents and LLM-enabled workflows by connecting analysis tools, designing prompts and measuring model performance against known outcomes.
• Extract, clean, integrate and analyze data using SQL, Python and other analytical tools to support engineering investigations and decisions.
• Build reproducible analytics, visualizations, dashboards and reports that give engineering teams actionable insights.
• Present technical findings, recommendations and limitations clearly to engineering partners while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
