Marsh Summer Intern 2027 Risk Brokerage

Program Overview

Marsh is seeking talented people for its Early Career Program Summer Internship within the Risk business. Roles are based in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle, with an anticipated start in June 2027. These hybrid roles require working in the office at least three days a week.

Summer Interns work for 10 weeks alongside senior advisors and brokers to help clients identify risks to their people, property, or financial and strategic goals. The internship offers hands-on experience in risk management and insurance broking.

Program benefits include a cohort community, a dedicated program team, learning and development opportunities, a mentorship program, exposure to senior leaders, and networking opportunities. Interns finish with a summer capstone presentation to their team and senior leadership.

Within Marsh Risk, the Brokerage Practice helps clients manage and reduce risks in situations such as medical pandemics, music festival liabilities, and financial scandals. Brokers assess risks, build relationships with insurance companies, and secure competitive insurance quotes through negotiation.

Exceptional juniors may be offered a place in Marsh's full-time program after the internship.

Available Practice Areas

Candidates select their preferred practice area(s) for consideration:

• Casualty (Los Angeles): evaluates clients' potential liability for damages or losses and secures appropriate coverage.
• Cyber (San Francisco): assesses cyber risks, compares potential losses, evaluates cybersecurity measures, and analyzes cyber insurance options.
• FINPRO (San Francisco): provides Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Crime, and Kidnap & Ransom solutions to financial and professional service firms.
• Marine, Cargo, and Logistics (Seattle): protects companies that move goods worldwide through coverage for damage, theft, delays, or accidents.
• Property (Los Angeles and San Francisco): protects individuals and businesses from losses to buildings, homes, personal belongings, and other assets.

Responsibilities

• Research industry trends, market developments, and topics that inform client or team discussions.
• Collaborate with brokers and team members on communication and coordination with clients and internal partners.
• Support day-to-day projects while building knowledge of insurance markets, client service, and risk management.
• Take part in team meetings, client discussions, and learning opportunities to see the insurance broking process.
• Contribute to special projects and team initiatives during the internship.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate is $25/hr in Los Angeles and Seattle and $27/hr in San Francisco. This rate is standardized and not negotiable.
