Program Overview

Marsh is seeking talented individuals for its Early Career Program Summer Internship, part of the Risk business. These hybrid roles are based in Atlanta, Boston, Miami and Washington DC, with an anticipated start in June 2027. Hybrid roles require working at least three days a week in the office.

Interns join as a Summer Intern for a 10-week experience, working directly with senior advisors and brokers to help clients identify risks to their people, property, or financial and strategic goals. The program offers hands-on experience in risk management and insurance broking, a cohort community, a dedicated program team, learning and development opportunities, a mentorship program, exposure to senior leaders, and networking. The internship ends with a summer capstone presentation to your team and senior leadership.

The Brokerage Practice helps clients manage and reduce risks in real-world scenarios such as medical pandemics, music festival liabilities, and financial scandals. Interns collaborate with clients to assess risks, build relationships with insurance companies, and secure competitive insurance quotes through negotiation.

Exceptional juniors may be offered a place in the full-time program at Marsh after completing the internship.

Available Practice Areas

Candidates select their preferred practice area(s) to be considered for the following teams: Construction, Cyber, Energy & Power, FINPRO and Property. Office availability varies by practice, and candidates are aligned accordingly during review.

  • Construction (Miami): Assesses risk, develops risk management strategies, and implements insurance programs for construction firms, general contractors, and project service providers.
  • Cyber (Atlanta): Helps clients manage cyber risks by assessing risks, comparing potential losses, evaluating cybersecurity measures, and analyzing cyber insurance options.
  • Energy & Power (Boston): Manages risks for natural resource energy, renewable energy, power, and utility companies.
  • FINPRO (Atlanta, Washington DC): Provides Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Crime, and Kidnap & Ransom solutions to financial and professional service firms, often working with upper management and C-Suite executives.
  • Property (Atlanta): Protects individuals and businesses from financial losses from damage or loss of physical property such as buildings, homes, personal belongings, and other assets.

Responsibilities

  • Research industry trends, market developments, and other topics that inform client or team discussions.
  • Collaborate with brokers and team members to support communication and coordination with clients and internal partners.
  • Support day-to-day projects while developing knowledge of insurance markets, client service, and risk management.
  • Take part in team meetings, client discussions, and learning opportunities to gain exposure to the insurance broking process.
  • Contribute to special projects and team initiatives throughout the internship.

Application Requirements

Applicants must select their top two preferred practice areas and indicate a preferred office location aligned with the practice area. Upload a resume and cover letter, each no more than two pages in PDF format. The cover letter should answer: what interests you about beginning a career in insurance broking; why your first choice of office location and practice area appeals to you; and an experience working with someone who had a different approach, and how you worked together effectively.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate is $25/hr, standardized per location and not subject to negotiation. Benefits include mentorship and professional development support, a hybrid work environment, and opportunities to join local office events and networking activities.
