About the job

Marsh's Early Career Program offers a Summer Internship within the Risk business. The roles are based in Chicago, Dallas, and Houston, with an anticipated start in June 2027. These are hybrid positions that require working in the office at least three days a week.

As a Summer Intern, you will work directly with senior advisors and brokers over a 10-week experience. You will help clients identify risks to their people, property, or financial and strategic goals, gaining hands-on exposure to risk management and insurance broking. Program benefits include a cohort community, a dedicated program team, learning and development opportunities, a mentorship program, exposure to senior leaders, and networking. The internship ends with a summer capstone presentation to your team and senior leadership.

The Brokerage Practice helps clients manage and reduce risks in real-world scenarios, such as medical pandemics, music festival liabilities, and financial scandals. You will work with clients to assess risks, build relationships with insurance companies, and secure competitive insurance quotes using your negotiation skills. Exceptional interns may be offered a full-time position at Marsh after the internship.

Candidates will select their preferred practice area(s) to be considered for: Aviation, Casualty, Construction, Cyber, FINPRO, Marine, Cargo, and Logistics, Multinational, Property, and Energy & Power. • Multinational (Chicago): Guides clients on overseas risks, manages global insurance programs, and ensures compliance with international regulations.
  • Property (Chicago): Protects individuals and businesses from losses to buildings, homes, belongings, and other physical assets.
  • Energy & Power (Houston): Manages risks for natural resource energy, renewable energy, power, and utility companies.

Application Requirements

Upload a resume and a cover letter, each no more than two pages in PDF format. Select your top two practice areas and indicate your preferred office location. In your cover letter, answer the following: what interests you about beginning a career in insurance broking, why your first-choice office and practice area appeal to you, and share an experience where you worked effectively with someone who had a different approach than you.
