This role offers assignments in technical and engineering organizations (such as Electronics, Software, Facilities, or Manufacturing Engineering) during vacations and short-term breaks from college while you are enrolled in an accredited degree program.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems is hiring a Summer 2027 Intern in software engineering. You will work with senior engineers to build automation tools and test scripts for the system testbed lab. These tools help the lab operate more effectively and efficiently. The ideal candidate has experience or knowledge of Python, Java, and C/C++.

You must be a US Citizen. This position requires government security clearance and is located at the Sunnyvale, CA facility, working onsite in a classified closed area.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Must return to school for at least one semester or quarter following the internship (not graduating immediately before the summer).
• Foundational knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
• Basic understanding of data structures (such as arrays, lists, and trees) and algorithms.

Desired Skills

• Project experience: personal, academic, or open-source coding projects outside regular coursework.
• Version control: familiarity with GitLab for collaborative development.
• Problem solving: ability to work through technical challenges and debug simple code.

Full-time salary range: $25.18 to $35.19 per hour. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as scope of the position, work experience, education and training, key skills, and market and business considerations when extending an offer.
