About the job

To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles and more. KLA provides the tools to see, test and manufacture these at scale, faster and better than ever before. Whether you are early in your career or experienced, you will solve complex challenges, work alongside skilled people and help shape the future of technology.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

KLA is looking for energetic interns for several projects this coming summer at its Ann Arbor, Michigan location. You will learn about best-in-class industrial equipment for the semiconductor industry.

You will perform engineering work to develop opto-mechanical sub-components for KLA's inspection tools. You will work on a specific part of a larger project, self-motivated, in a team with other interns and engineers.

You will design, model and document optical systems and collaborate with engineers from fields such as electrical engineering, optical engineering and computer science. The role uses CAD and optical ray-tracing packages. Hands-on setup and alignment of opto-mechanical sub-assemblies in a laboratory environment is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Coursework in optics and knowledge of opto-mechanical fundamentals are expected. Experience with Zemax and CREO is a plus. You will need strong analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal skills, perseverance, and the ability to work collaboratively with people across different geographies.

Benefits

KLA offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package, including medical, dental, vision, life and other voluntary benefits, 401(k) with company matching, an employee stock purchase program (ESPP), student debt assistance, tuition reimbursement, development programs, financial planning benefits, wellness benefits including an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off, paid company holidays, and family care and bonding leave. Interns are eligible for some of these benefits.
