Job Description

Our Oncology team works to eliminate cancer by finding new pathways and modalities for treatments and cures. The team needs innovators committed to results and to moving science from lab to life.

The Global Oncology Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience in a large pharmaceutical R&D setting, with a basic understanding of novel drug development. Interns learn about disease states, diagnosis, treatments, and drug mechanisms of action, and receive training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related tools. The internship is a full-time role of approximately 12 weeks (May 10 - August 13, 2027).

This is a hybrid role for candidates who are not lab based: on-site three days a week and remote two days a week.

As a summer intern in the Preclinical Safety & Translational Sciences (PSTS) group, you will join a global matrixed team focused on oncologic therapeutics. You will gain exposure to nonclinical safety evaluation, translational decision-making, and cross-functional R&D work, and learn about career paths in toxicology, translational safety, and oncology R&D. You will be assigned a mentor and contribute to PSTS project work.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Working under PSTS scientists and contributing to project workstreams
  • Supporting nonclinical safety strategy for oncology programs, including review of toxicology, pathology, and translational biology data
  • Helping interpret preclinical data (such as histopathology, clinical pathology, biodistribution, and target expression) for translational risk assessments
  • Joining cross-functional discussions with Oncology partners on how safety findings affect program decisions
  • Preparing internal presentations, summaries, or reports
  • Taking part in the Oncology "Bench to Bedside" lecture series, networking events, and intern development activities
  • Presenting a final project (poster or oral) at the end-of-program intern symposium
  • Building understanding of clinical research and drug development, including GCP, ICH guidelines, and SOPs
  • Attending department, team, and clinical meetings
  • Working on projects with other functional disciplines and taking leadership roles in program activities or group projects
  • Other projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Legally and permanently authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. CPT requirements must be communicated at the time of application
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college program for the full duration of the internship, and not graduating before, during, or immediately after the internship
  • Graduate students in good standing in a matriculated program pursuing a master's, PharmD, PhD, Physician Assistant, or similar degree
  • Undergraduate students in good standing who have completed at least six semesters in clinical, pharmacy, premed, physician assistant, nursing, or similar programs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in written and spoken English with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to balance multiple project deliverables and work within global, cross-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of Slack and Microsoft business applications such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word

Proven campus or service program participation is desired.

Candidates under 18 may need to obtain working papers and parental consent for the background check as required by state law.
