Job Description

Our Innovative Medicine work is shaped by patients, whose insights drive our science. Our Oncology team works to eliminate cancer by discovering new pathways and treatment modalities. We are looking for innovators who are committed to results and who take medicine from lab to life.

The Global Oncology Internship Program offers a learning and professional experience at one of the world's leading health care companies. It is designed to build a pool of future talent who may pursue other opportunities at Johnson & Johnson after completing their degree. The internship is a full-time role lasting about 12 weeks (May 10 to August 13, 2027).

This role follows a hybrid model for positions that are not lab based. Interns report on site three days a week and may work remotely two days a week.

As a summer intern on the Oncology Medical Affairs team, you will support training, clinical learning strategy (including new hire onboarding), product and evidence launches, professional learning initiatives, and ongoing knowledge reinforcement. You will be assigned a mentor and may contribute to projects within your team. The role may involve working with global matrixed colleagues from different disciplines.

Interns may contribute to cross-functional team activities and collaborate with other project teams. You will present your work to your project teams and the Oncology Senior Leadership Team. You will also present your primary research project as a poster or abstract at the global summer intern research symposium near the end of the internship.

The program gives undergraduate and graduate students experience in a large pharmaceutical setting and helps them understand drug development. You will learn about disease states, diagnosis, treatments, and the mechanism of action of drugs in development. You will also receive training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), function-specific training, and related systems and tools.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Working with medical science liaisons, medical directors, R&D, scientific communications, and compliance to identify Medical Affairs training needs and shape the clinical learning strategy.
  • Supporting hematology initiatives by designing and delivering training programs for oncology products and disease states, and supporting professional development topics such as influencing without authority, storytelling with data, insight gathering, and generative AI fluency.
  • Evaluating new learning technologies and content approaches, and helping with the migration to a new learning platform.
  • Sharing best practices in learning excellence with US and global colleagues at monthly meetings.
  • Gaining experience managing project timelines, budgets, and vendors.
  • Attending the "Bench to Bedside" Lecture Series to learn about drug development and clinical research.
  • Taking on leadership opportunities in internship program activities or group projects.
  • Preparing and presenting an abstract or poster at the JNJ-wide research symposium.
