Pharmacy Intern

The Pharmacy Intern will handle the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting of adjudication issues.

This role is designed to be performed virtually full-time, with required in-person training sessions for onboarding and skill development. Candidates must live within a commutable distance from the PulsePoint locations. Candidates outside a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered, unless an accommodation is required by law.

How you will make an impact

• Assists in developing and configuring prior authorization decision trees in the workflow tool
• Participates in quality assurance feedback from pharmacists on those decision trees
• Assists in implementing clinical programs within the prior authorization space
• Verifies member, provider, and drug information and inputs data for the prior authorization pharmacists
• Educates providers on pharmacy-based rules for prescriptions and on medication resources or assistance programs
• Processes prior authorization requests from physicians' offices and ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements, informing relevant parties of all determinations

Minimum requirements

• Ability to work 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship
• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university
• A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in applicable state(s)

Preferred skills, capabilities and experience

• 1st and 2nd year PharmD students preferred
• Prior experience in pharmacy retail strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong written and oral communication, problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills

Compensation

Salary range for this position in Virginia is $16.34 to $31.94 per hour. The salary offered depends on legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company. Benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution, subject to eligibility.
