Public Policy Intern - Summer 2027

This role is based in Washington, DC and requires associates to work from the posted location full-time. The policy emphasizes in-person collaboration, teamwork and direct engagement. Candidates who are not within a reasonable commuting distance of the posting location will not be considered, unless an accommodation is granted as required by law.

The Public Policy Intern will support Elevance Health's public policy team by analyzing federal and state policy developments that affect healthcare and by preparing policy summaries and other written materials. The intern will work with team members to help develop public policy positions and strategic initiatives.

The Public Policy Internship is a 12-week, full-time program running from May 17, 2027 to August 6, 2027. It is offered in partnership with Indiana University's Capital Campus program, with recruitment focused on Indiana University students.

How you will make an impact

• Track federal and state legislation, regulations and other developments affecting healthcare
• Review policy proposals to identify key provisions, proposed changes to existing policy and potential implications for the organization and the people it serves
• Draft issue briefs, policy summaries and presentations to support internal discussions and policy development
• Attend policy briefings and create detailed summaries that document key insights
• Help team members develop and refine public policy positions, recommendations and responses to policy proposals
