Pharmacy Intern

This role is set up as virtual full-time work, with the exception of required in-person training sessions, which give flexibility and autonomy while still supporting onboarding and skill development face to face. The ideal candidate lives within a commutable distance from our PulsePoint locations.

The Pharmacy Intern will interpret and enter data for moderately complex prescriptions, process prior authorizations and troubleshoot adjudication issues.

How you will make an impact

• Helps develop and configure prior authorization decision trees in the workflow tool
• Takes part in quality assurance feedback from pharmacists on those decision trees
• Helps implement clinical programs in the prior authorization space
• Verifies member, provider and drug information and enters data for the prior authorization pharmacists
• Educates providers on pharmacy-based prescription rules and medication resources or assistance programs
• Processes prior authorization requests from physicians' offices, ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements, and informs relevant parties of all determinations

Minimum requirements

• Ability to work 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship
• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university
• A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in the applicable state(s)

Preferred skills and experience

• First and second year PharmD students preferred
• Prior pharmacy retail experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
