PhD Summer Intern, New Brunswick

Drug Product Development works with colleagues across the full pharmaceutical development process, from discovery to commercial launch and beyond. The team develops novel formulations, processes, and medical devices for drug products at clinical and commercial stages. We look for proven team players who enjoy pursuing unique scientific discovery in an emerging field and who bring solid operational, interpersonal, project management and collaboration skills. The summer intern program is where this work begins.

What You Will Do

Summer interns work with mentors for about 10 weeks on a guided research project focused on predictive modeling, data science, and AI/ML applied to drug product development. Depending on experience and interests, interns may:

• Design and implement computational models that analyze the effects of process variables and material properties on product attributes.
• Apply machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to large datasets to generate insights and reduce product-related risks.
• Develop and test predictive models of key pharmaceutical unit operations for oral solid and parenteral dosage forms, including drug delivery devices.
• Collaborate with formulation, process development, and device engineering teams.
• Present results to a diverse audience at internal forums.

• A formal presentation at the end of the internship, along with a mentor program and formal review and feedback sessions.

The program runs from Monday, June 7, 2027 to Friday, August 13, 2027. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be notified no later than February 2027.
