Drug Product Development

Drug Product Development works with colleagues across the full pharmaceutical development process, from discovery to commercial launch and beyond. The team develops formulations and processes that support drug products at both clinical and commercial stages. We look for candidates who are proven team players, enjoy the challenge of unique scientific discovery in an emerging field, and show strong operational, interpersonal, project management and collaboration skills. This starts with our summer intern program.

About the Internship

Summer interns work with mentors for about 10 weeks on a guided research project. The project explores the feasibility of material characterization techniques, including vibrational spectroscopy (Raman, NIR, IR), X-ray diffraction and imaging tools. Interns develop methods for product characterization, troubleshoot characterization issues, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including formulation scientists, analytical chemists, process engineers and process modelers. Their work supports drug product formulation development and manufacturing processes.

The program is designed so interns gain valuable industry and functional experience, work on challenging assignments, learn about BMS and meet a range of company representatives. The program includes:

• An orientation covering company structure, products and brands
• An introduction to the GPS and PD organizations
• Exposure to senior management and business leaders
• Hands-on training and work in pharmaceutical manufacturing process areas and testing laboratories
• A formal presentation at the end of the internship
• A mentor program
• Formal review and feedback sessions

Program Dates

The program runs from Monday, June 7, 2027 to Friday, August 13, 2027. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be notified no later than February 2027.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay for this internship is set according to local market practices and applicable laws. It may be offered as an hourly rate, a monthly stipend or another locally compliant structure, based on factors such as academic level, relevant experience, skills and work location. Interns may be eligible for limited benefits depending on program structure, work location and local requirements.

This is a temporary, time-bound position for the duration of the internship and does not guarantee continued or permanent employment after the program ends.
