About the job

At Bristol Myers Squibb, employees often ask, "Who are you working for?" That question drives collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture pushes us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines for serious diseases. We offer meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits.

Position Summary

RayzeBio, a Bristol Myers Squibb company, focuses on improving survival for people with cancer by harnessing targeted radioisotopes. The Equipment Engineering Intern joins the team bringing RayzeBio's radiopharmaceutical drug products to patients. This is a hands-on, 10-week, full-time summer role (June 7 to August 13, 2027) at the Indianapolis site.

You will support equipment engineering projects for clinical and commercial manufacturing, working alongside engineers who design, improve, validate, and manage the life cycle of process equipment for radiopharmaceutical technologies, including custom hot cells, formulation, and filling lines. You will also see how the team works with engineering firms and specialty equipment manufacturers. This internship suits students interested in equipment engineering who want to see that work in a GMP radiopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the continuous operation and maintenance of process equipment for radiopharmaceutical clinical and commercial manufacturing, including custom hot cells, formulation, and filling equipment.
  • Assist engineers with equipment projects and expansion work for isotope and drug product manufacturing, helping track tasks, schedules, drawings, and open items.
  • Support equipment life cycle activities such as preventive maintenance and calibration schedules, spare parts tracking, and service coordination with external vendors, partners, and engineering firms.
  • Support GMP manufacturing operations by gathering information and data for deviation investigations, CAPAs, and change controls, under the guidance of an engineer.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Digital IT, Validation, and Facility Engineering counterparts.
  • Complete a defined project over the summer, such as a process, documentation, or equipment reliability improvement, and present the results to the team at the end of the internship.
  • Comply with site EHS and Radiation Safety programs, including required training and personal protective equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, biomedical, industrial, or automation/controls preferred), having completed at least the sophomore year by the start of the internship.
  • Demonstrated interest in a career in equipment engineering.
  • Coursework in engineering design, controls, or robotics is a plus. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong professional ethics, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Organized and detail oriented, with strong time management and interpersonal communication skills. Motivated, adaptable, accountable, and collaborative.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Indianapolis, IN facility full-time for the duration of the internship, in a standard office environment as well as GMP production, laboratory, and facility environments.
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift 50 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb stairs, with or without accommodation, and to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and be comfortable working in and around areas with radioactive materials, in accordance with site EHS and Radiation Safety requirements.

How We Work

Our roles are structured across four work models: site-essential, site-by-design, field-based, and remote-by-design. The model assigned to this role is based on its core responsibilities.
