Position Summary

As a Market Strategy Data Science Intern, you will analyze demographic, competitive and geographic trends that shape real estate and market growth strategies. You will work with cross-functional partners to evaluate site opportunities, find patterns in large datasets and build predictive insights for store location planning and portfolio optimization.

Walmart Real Estate supports the places and physical assets that allow Walmart to serve customers and communities. The team's work covers the full real estate lifecycle and brings together strategy, portfolio and development, design, construction, facilities, fuel and convenience, data, technology and other supporting functions.

This graduate/MBA internship supports Market Strategy through data science, artificial intelligence and geospatial analysis. The role will help identify high-priority growth opportunities and strengthen data-informed real estate decisions.

What You'll Do

• Analyze demographic, competitive and geographic data to support market prioritization.
• Use SQL, machine learning and geospatial methods to find patterns and generate actionable insights.
• Build a market prioritization model in Power BI.
• Explore an agentic AI and optimization solution to improve market and site opportunity decisions.
• Turn analytical results into recommendations for market strategy and real estate leaders.
• Collaborate with data science, real estate, strategy and other cross-functional teams.
• Document assumptions, methods and findings, and deliver a final presentation.
