What Will You Do?

Working under direct supervision, this internship builds your risk control and general insurance knowledge. You will help provide risk control support to home office leadership, commercial or construction field consultants, and specialist staff in property, casualty services, and forensics and industrial hygiene labs. This is a paid 10-12 week position based in Hartford, CT (or the immediate area), with company subsidized housing for those who meet the mileage radius requirement.

• Prepare, conduct, and complete risk evaluations of client locations.
• Determine potential hazards and risk factors considered in risk selection.
• Identify uncontrolled hazards and make appropriate recommendations.
• Consult with clients on ways to control hazards and reduce, mitigate, or prevent loss.
• Research and apply technical information to support current risk control efforts.
• Attend co-surveys with experienced Risk Control staff to build consulting skills.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Clients, BI Business Partners, and other Risk Control staff.
• Complete one Capstone project and present it to senior management on a relevant Risk Control topic.
• Complete assignments on time and perform other duties as assigned.
