Travelers Risk Control brings over 105 years of experience in property risk control and safety management. We also run industrial hygiene, fire and forensics laboratories, which let us give customers recommendations that control hazards and reduce the risk of property damage or injury.

What Will You Do?

Under direct supervision, this internship focuses on building risk control and general insurance knowledge. You will help provide risk control support to home office leadership, commercial or construction field consultants, and specialist disciplines such as property, casualty services and forensics or industrial hygiene labs. This is a paid 10 to 12 week position based in Hartford, CT (or the immediate area), with company subsidized housing for those who meet the mileage radius requirement.

Responsibilities may include the following:

• Helping prepare, conduct and complete risk evaluations of client locations
• Identifying potential hazards and risk factors considered in risk selection
• Finding uncontrolled hazards and making appropriate recommendations
• Consulting with clients on ways to control hazards and reduce, mitigate or prevent loss
• Researching and applying technical information to support risk control services
• Attending co-surveys with experienced Risk Control staff to build consulting skills
• Collaborating with Underwriting, Claims, Clients, BI Business Partners and other Risk Control staff
• Completing one Capstone project and presentation to senior management on a Risk Control topic
• Keeping assignments on schedule
• Performing other duties as assigned
