What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will join a cross-disciplinary team that supports new product development and current manufacturing of sensors for the aviation industry. You will help with the mechanical design, fabrication, testing and troubleshooting of sensors used in aerospace sensor systems, working with engineers across disciplines to take designs from concept to production.

• Support existing products with investigations, design improvements and documentation updates
• Perform tolerance analysis on components and assemblies to confirm proper fit and function
• Use CAD solid modeling to prepare component and assembly models and drawings
• Write test requests to support design verification and testing, and analyze test data
• Specify material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing

What You Will Learn

This role is a strong chance to learn the fundamentals of the aviation industry, gain experience in multidisciplinary technology development and regulations, and practice presenting technical information.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with mechanical design and modeling software such as ANSYS and/or MATLAB
• A minimum of 60 credit hours completed by the start of the internship or co-op session
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and/or PowerPoint)
• Prior RTX internship, co-op or work experience
