Electrical Engineer 1

Role Overview

This role supports the conceptual design of electrical systems by testing components, documenting results and organizing materials. You will assist with parts selection, FPGA design, schematic capture, design analysis, board floor planning and layout, and resolving straightforward technical issues.

You will also help with testing, integration and validation of analog and digital systems and subsystems, assisting with setup and basic testing tasks under supervision. Maintaining technical documentation such as schematics, test plans, test reports, signal integrity constraints and bills of materials is part of the job.

Key Responsibilities

This is a New College Grad role for students graduating with a Bachelor's degree by, or within the past 12 months of, the posting date.

• Assist senior team members with routine tasks such as component testing, documenting results and organizing materials.
• Gain hands-on experience in how system designs (power delivery, signal integrity, board design) align with project specifications.
• Assist with parts selection, qualification, FPGA design and schematic capture for electrical subsystems under senior guidance.
• Help with basic modeling and simulations of standard electrical systems while building foundational skills under close oversight.
• Learn to assist with board floor planning and layout, including basic component placement, routing and power/signal integrity considerations.
• Help resolve power and signal component issues, handling straightforward technical challenges with guidance.
• Support firmware, software and diagnostics teams in integrating electrical subsystems into overall server functionality.
• Assist with setup and basic testing for analog and digital subsystem validation, and help prepare automation platforms for electrical subsystem validation.
• Learn troubleshooting techniques during prototype validation and observe sustaining engineering activities such as root cause analysis and alternate source qualification.
• Help maintain technical documentation and learn documentation practices under supervision.
• Observe formal design reviews and continue learning about emerging technologies, industry standards and best practices.

Additional Responsibilities

As needed, you will learn about safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and environmental regulations for hardware products. You will support compliance reviews and pre-compliance test setup under close supervision.

Complete assigned tasks and monitor timelines with supervision, adjusting priorities as resources or timelines shift. Collaborate with team members to understand expectations, and escalate issues to senior members while reviewing basic data to troubleshoot common errors.
