Job Description

This internship is for aspiring software engineers who want hands-on experience with scalable cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity applications. Working alongside experienced mentors, you will contribute to an event-driven microservices architecture built mainly on AWS cloud models. You will help ingest and analyze large datasets, detect security anomalies through analytics, and support core security microservices.

Collaboration, prototyping, design and implementation in a team setting are essential. You will adapt quickly, learn fast and take the lead in different areas of the product and the engineering team. Throughout the program, interns rotate across software engineering groups and complete a dedicated project presented at the end of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Maintain existing backend microservices deployed mainly through AWS Lambda and Fargate using Python
• Work with the architecture team to design and build new microservices supporting strategic initiatives
• Maintain or build new web-based, customer-facing UI features using React, JavaScript and Python
• Bring fresh engineering perspectives to a fast-paced team and suggest improvements through active collaboration

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of HTTP web servers, REST web service APIs and how the internet works
• Experience with single page application development and client-side graphing libraries
• Understanding of test automation and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Familiarity with CI/CD and secure development practices
• Exposure to relational database design and queries, such as Postgres or MySQL
• Use of coding agents such as Copilot or Claude Code
• Understanding of cloud fundamentals or hands-on experience in an AWS environment
